Cwmcarn Forest

I had to begin with this one! Cwmcarn Forest is our nearest walk, and obviously one we visit a lot. The seven mile drive for cars will be closed for two years from November 2014 for tree felling, but the walks will still be open. You can park at one of the (paid) car parks by the visitor centre, fishing lake or pit wheel. There are lots of little paths and circular walks to take, so you can make each visit different. Our dogs love it here, especially all the streams they can paddle in! The visitor centre is open all year round (except over Christmas) and there's a little cafe where dogs are welcome.

Dog Walks in South Wales

Hello and welcome to the site!

If you've stumbled across us while searching for somewhere to take your four-legged friend(s) then you're in the right place. My name is Laura, and I love to explore new places to walk with my husband & hounds on our days off. Over the years we've found loads of lovely little walks, on & off the beaten track. I thought I'd make a list of the places we've been with the dogs;

1) to share with other walkers,
2) so we don't forget somewhere good we've been, and
3) to help us choose our next walk!

We live near Newport so many of the walks featured here will be in the South East Wales region. If you've got a walk to suggest, we'd love to hear from you! You can email us at southwalesdogwalks@outlook.com

The site might look a bit bare at first, but keep coming back, lots more walks will be added very soon :)
